magic sands beach

(text on reverse: Magic Sands Beach is one of the few white sand beaches on Hawaii. This beach near Kona Town is named Magic Sands because the entire beach will regularly disappear and then return with the natural action of the ocean. Photo: Carl Shaneff)

Hi, Lisa, Mike & Henry,

Had a real workout today hiking to the bottom of the Pololu Valley. Getting up to the lookout again was even trickier. I wore tennis shoes but Mary, Joan, Kristen, & Tiffani all were in flipflops! Stopped for smoothies in a teeny little town that featured the first statue of King Hamekameha, originally lost at sea, but recovered & installed where we saw it in Kapa'au. Ate in the resort shopping strip tonight where they had little kids performing hulas. Missed the Bay Club ice cream social, but it was probably one more scheme to sign us up for a timeshare presentation. I'm getting paranoid.

Ever onward,
Mom/Grandma

Kisses all around & for Sammy too, if he has landed.
